Thankful Thursday

Here’s a quick and short list of things for this week’s edition of Thankful Thursday. What things do you have to be thankful for this week? Family time! I got to hang with my nieces for a little while tonight! My youngest niece seems to be warming up to me a bit more… You know, assuming Grandma isn’t around and I have something she wants! ;D I actually had time to paint my nails! Tomorrow is mine and Cory’s one year anniversary (!) How did he put up with me for this long?! So I suppose I should look presentable when I see him tomorrow night. ;D Essie Bachelorette Bash, Deborah Lippmann Sweet Dreams, Julep Jackie I have a wonderful dentist Let’s just say I’m going to be seeing my dentist a lot for the next year or so. I went to him again recently due to some pain in a tooth. I was really hoping for a simple filling but I knew it struck a nerve from the pain I was having. In addition to needing a root canal, 1/3 of my mouth is full of cavities (yay!), and I need a deep cleaning. Not to mention, the other […]

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon has been on my bucket list of places to see before I die for a long time. Cory, too, has also longed to go, and so it seemed like a good choice for our first vacation together. We were leaving a few days after my finals so I didn’t have a lot of time to think about the trip, what we would do, etc. We were just going for a weekend so we really couldn’t plan much anyway. I knew I wanted to see the Watchtower and of course the canyon. I was feeling a bit nervous because this was my first trip with a significant other. Cory and I get along well and haven’t argued about anything. So my worry was “what if he decides after this trip he doesn’t want to be with me anymore?!” You know the usual irrational thoughts. We left on a Saturday morning; we had to be up at 4AM to get to the airport in time and catch our plane. Knowing we had to be up that early I didn’t sleep well and woke up way before the alarm. We made it to Phoenix by 9am their time. As we […]

Style Icon : Teer Wayde

I could spend a lot of time on Pinterest, thank god I don’t have unlimited data on my cell phone plan because I’d probably never leave the house! I spend too much time pinning decorating ideas for my imaginary home, finding new recipes, and looking at fashion. There was one girl I kept (unintentionally) pinning to my body love and stylish boards; her name is Teer Wayde. She’s a gorgeous plus-size model whose website is accurately called Curves to Kill. She’s like a mix of rockabilly and pinup. I love her style and her attitude in her photos. How I wish I could afford the clothes that she models; seriously who can afford $190 for a cardigan? If anyone has any suggestions on where you can find affordable pinup or rockabilly type clothes please share links! A couple months back I told Cory that ideally I’d like to look like her body wise. According to her website, she’s a size 12-14; I’m currently a 16. I’ve never wanted to be skinny but I think I would look good around her size. More than anything I want to be happy and healthy — that’s the primary goal. I guess I should […]

Thankful Thursday

I’ve been trying to come up with ways to force myself to blog more often, and I like the idea of posting some positive things from the previous week. Too often we focus more on the negative in life and less on the good; I know I’m guilty of that a lot lately. So here are a few things I’m thankful for during the past week. I got to see a friend Last week I got to visit my friend Kathy in Louisville. We had dinner and we got to hang out afterward and chill. Too often our visits are only limited to dinner so it’s hard to fully catch up. I also have to brag on her because she’s doing really well exercising and getting healthy. Go Kathy! 😀 I got to see Cory I think this weekend was the first time I’ve seen him since our trek to the Grand Canyon a couple of weeks ago. (Too long!) We went to see the Dalai Lama speak in Louisville. It was an interesting experience to say the least. Also, I think it was the first time I’ve been to any sort of venue recently where I didn’t see a […]

Project 31 begins… again!

Back in May 2011 I decided to do a month long photo project. I’m very happy I did that project even though I went well over into June to get all 31 photos. There were days when life was mundane and the photo reflected that, so I thought I’d rather get quality images out. The project helped me get out when I normally wouldn’t, and as a result I got photos I really liked in the process. I’m not entirely sure why I chose May a couple of years ago but I’m missing my camera, and so I’ve decided to do it again for this month. May seems like a good month to do it since it’s not in the heart of a Kentucky summer (when I usually want to hibernate) and shouldn’t be as busy as other months. Now that I’m out of school for the summer, work and my own projects are the only things keeping me busy. I’m excited to see what photos I come up with during this project especially since Cory and I are going to the Grand Canyon this weekend… and the project will be (unintentionally) ending on our one year anniversary! I hope […]
